PRESS: Launch of Taman power plant seen delayed to end of 2023

MOSCOW, Jun 22 (PRIME) -- The launch of the 51-billion-ruble Udarnaya thermal power plant on the Taman Peninsula in Russia’s Krasnodar Region could be postponed to the end of 2023, Kommersant business daily reported Monday citing sources.

In March 2018, Technopromexport, a unit of state industrial corporation Rostec, won a tender to build the 465-megawatt plant on the Taman Peninsula. The launch was scheduled for April 2021. In November 2019, Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchak said that the ministry expects the launch to be delayed for one to two years and Technopromexport could be fined for the short-supply of capacity.

According to Kommersant, Technopromexport asked the government to give it a delay in the launch of thermal units without a fine. Sources say the launch of the plant can be now postponed from April 2021 to December 2023.
